Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q: Why must propane detectors be mounted close to the floor?

A: Propane gas is heavier than air and sinks toward the floor or bottom of the RV cabin. Installing the 30-442-P-WT within 4 to 10 inches of the floor ensures rapid leak detection before gas accumulates in sleeping areas.

Q: How often should I replace my RV's propane alarm?

A: Safe-T-Alert LP gas detectors have an operational lifespan of 5 years from the date of installation. The unit features an end-of-life signal to notify you when it is time to replace the unit.

Q: Will this alarm drain my 12V house battery when boondocking?

A: No. The unit draws a minimal 100 mA (0.1 Amps) of power, making it extremely energy-efficient for off-grid camping while keeping your gas safety systems online continuously.
