Critical Installation Note:

The Rule 17A is NOT self-priming. This means the pump must be mounted below the waterline or in a position where the inlet is constantly flooded by gravity.¹⁸ If the pump is mounted above the water level, it will not be able to "pull" water up to start the flow.
