Maretron Solid-State Rate/Gyro Compass – Without Cables (SSC300-01)
The Maretron SSC300-01 Solid-State Rate/Gyro Compass is a high-precision navigation sensor designed to deliver accurate heading, rate-of-turn, pitch, and roll data for advanced marine electronics systems. Engineered with cutting-edge solid-state technology, it provides reliable performance even in demanding offshore conditions.
Utilizing a combination of 3-axis magnetometer, 3-axis gyro, and 3-axis accelerometer, the SSC300 delivers highly stable and responsive data output. It achieves better than 0.7° heading accuracy through ±45° of pitch and roll, ensuring dependable navigation and system integration.
This compass is ideal for applications such as autopilot systems, radar overlay, AIS stabilization, and vessel monitoring, where precise heading and motion data are critical. The unit outputs both NMEA 2000® and NMEA 0183 data, allowing seamless integration with a wide range of marine electronics.
Each SSC300 is factory calibrated for maximum accuracy and features a rugged, IP67-rated waterproof enclosure, making it suitable for harsh marine environments.

Key Features
-
Fast Update Rate: Capable of providing heading updates up to 10 times per second (10Hz), which is critical for the smooth operation of high-speed autopilots and radar-chart overlay systems.
-
Dynamic Stabilization: The internal 3-axis rate gyro continuously compensates for the boat's pitch and roll, providing a stable "dead ahead" reading when traditional compasses might "swing" or "bounce."
-
Advanced Calibration: Features a user-friendly auto-calibration semi-automatic routine that compensates for magnetic deviation caused by iron or other magnetic materials on the vessel.
-
Dual Protocol Support: The "01" designation indicates the unit includes both NMEA 2000 and NMEA 0183 interfaces, making it compatible with both modern glass bridge systems and legacy electronics.
-
Solid-State Reliability: With no moving parts to wear out or stick, this unit is highly resistant to vibration and provides a much longer service life than mechanical or liquid-filled sensors.
Installation & Compatibility
-
Placement: For optimal performance, the unit should be mounted near the center of gravity of the vessel, away from large engines, speakers, or high-current wiring that could create magnetic interference.
-
Cable Requirement: This model (SSC300-01) is the core sensor only. You will need a standard NMEA 2000 drop cable or an NMEA 0183 cable (depending on your network) for power and data transmission.
-
Configuration: Can be configured and calibrated using a Maretron DSM-series display or the N2KAnalyzer software via an USB gateway.
Enhance your vessel’s navigation accuracy with the Maretron SSC300-01, delivering precise, real-time heading and motion data for safer, smarter boating.
