The "Drip Loop": When installing, use a high-quality marine sealant (like 303 or 4000UV) under the flange to prevent water from leaking into your gunwale core.

I put four on the stern and an extra on the bow. Nice to have a place to set my rod when landing a big fish. When you set an $800 rod and reel in a holder, you need to know it’s not going to fail. I have always loved the C.E. Smith rod holders. The thick liner protects the rod butt, the solid polished flange looks great and remains beautiful, doesn’t dull like cheep stamped ones. The heavy duty tube is welded all the way around and is super strong. I’ve never had to replace a Smith rodholder, and Anchor Express offers the best price around with superb communication and customer service.
