Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Q: What is the primary purpose of the Raritan 166000 intake pump?

A: The Raritan 166000 is a 12VDC heavy-duty diaphragm pump designed to draw raw fresh water or sea water to flush compatible Raritan electric marine toilets (such as Marine Elegance and Sea Era series).

Q: Is the Raritan 166000 intake pump self-priming?

A: Yes, this diaphragm intake pump features self-priming capabilities, allowing it to pull water reliably from raw water sources even when mounted above the waterline.

Q: What power source and amperage does this pump require?

A: This pump runs on a 12V DC system and draws 10 Amps during standard operation. Make sure your vessel's electrical wiring and circuit breaker match these power requirements.

Q: Can this pump run dry without damaging internal components?

A: Diaphragm pumps generally handle brief periods of dry running better than standard flexible impeller pumps; however, prolonged dry operation should be avoided to extend the service life of the motor and internal diaphragm assembly.

Q: Is this pump compatible with salt water and fresh water?

A: Yes, the pump is engineered with corrosion-resistant marine-grade components suitable for continuous exposure to both salt water and fresh water environments.

Q: Does this kit include the mounting hardware?

A: Yes, the pump assembly comes complete with the necessary stainless steel mounting lockwashers and nuts to secure the unit on board.
